Backstage with Naeem Khan….

Someone asked us before the show how is the collection for Naeem Khan… “If he goes with black and white it’s beautiful, but if he chooses colours, then it’s amazing!”… That was our answer! And we were so lucky this season! Backstage was really dream like, surrounded by princesses in their breathtaking colourful embroidered gowns in chiffon, organza, silk and tulle. Your eyes would get lost in astonishment, not knowing where to look…

“I was born in colour”, Naeem says.. “This collection is all about the Mediterranean. The idea started with Bougainvillea and the falling flowers off white walls in the South of France. The gradual Capri blue that starts playing with other shades. Then you look at Cézanne, and you see all the dégradés of yellows and pinks… You kind of combine all that, then you find great icons, like Sofia Loren and Jackie O and Brigitte Bardot. You start with all these ideas and people inside your head and things appear and this is what it is… We have a huge team, it’s a thousand’s people job. I feel it’s a fantasy… it’s unreal. All these beautiful girls. It’s like godly.”

How would you imagine a new world?

I would like to change people, and have them look at the real depth of humans and their crafts and appreciating that, with lots of love. Let’s put more focus on that.

What’s your dream right now, after the show?

My dream now is to rest, and have a martini!
