Make up Makeover with Ahmad Al Assir

Make up by: Ahmad Al Assir

I love make up and being backstage at the shows, asking questions, watching, and annoying the make up artists whom I count now as my friends. You would think I wear make up everyday, smokey eyes, red lips, purple and orange trends, but not really! And even when I try to put make up on, it seems as if I have nothing on my face, which is a little frustrating.
Feeling a desparate need for a change, I went to one of the best and most famous make up artist in the Middle East, Ahmad Al Assir, whom I have known for years (he does the make up for the Arab Queen Ahlam Al Shamsi, the famous Emirati singer, and many other celebrities.)

This is how how you could get the same look.

Ahmad started with a light foundation on the centre of my face and under my brows; he used NW25 Mac Full coverage foundation, followed by a darker one, nb 30 on the rest of my face. When I asked him to hide my freckles, he simply said no! He wanted me to keep my European style.
Once done, he added Powder  Studio Fix NW23 also from Mac Cosmetics.

When I asked him about  blushes that would go with my fair skin, he suggested bronze, peach and beige, and no pinks, no fuschias (wait, what?! I use pink all the time)!  And for the eyes, he chose a plum colour, but said that I could also use brown, bronze, and peach.
He then added a black eyeliner inside and around  my eyes and smudged it on the roots with  brush 18p from Mac.

You could add a prune eyeshadow under the eye to create a beautiful contrast and lighten the eye.
Once done, clean a little around the eyes with a colour that matches your skin tone.
Add a highlighter under the brows and in the inner corners of the eyes. Ahmad used a pencil from Urban Decay in Beige Pearl.
Contour lips with Mac Spice Crayon and add a gloss. He used one from NYC.
Finish with Mascara;  Ahmad’s favourite is Voluminous by L’Oréal.
Tip: your eyebrows should be of the same colour as your roots.
