Diet Was on Hold
October 16, 2014
September is Fashion Week, and for years, this means traveling and being away for almost 2 weeks, which is not very long, unless you’re on a diet.
The plan that Krystel gave me for my trips was very easy: 2 soft toast (or 1 brown bread sandwich) with 250 g of protein plus vegetables for breakfast, same for lunch and dinner with the possibility to have a small baked potato instead of the bread. No sugar, no fruits, minimum salt, no fat.. but I was allowed to eat sushi, my favourite meal when I was in New York.
In New York, I tried to be as reasonable and careful as I could, which was not very hard. I was not following a diet, but I was eating mostly healthy meals, except for the few times I was out for a business lunch or dinner, like the 15 course meal I had at 11 Maddison (which deserves it own post to follow). I also planned to have a little box of fresh organic raspberries but the plan failed because there was too much traffic and I had to go directly to the Marc Jacobs show, so I gave them to the taxi driver.

In New York

Then in Milan,  I ate mostly Mozzarella and Bresaola. I was allowed to have both, but could not have the quantity Krystel wanted me to. It was much less. One night was a disaster with fried seafood, etc..  What was really hard in Milan was NOT having cappuccinos, not as many as I wanted. I tried it without sugar but I didn’t like it at all. So instead of having my at least 5 cappuccinos a day, I barely had 1, sometimes 2, with brown sugar.

The result? When I came back, I had put on 1 kilo, but lost it in 2 days after I came back.
After I was back, Krystel changed my plan. I could have Thyme with olive oil and oat bread and vegetables for breakfast, a large spoon of quinoa with a cup of vegetables for lunch, and 250 grams of protein with vegetables for dinner. That too was easy, but I missed my “labneh”…
I followed it for a week, then I had to go to Sharm El Sheikh for few days on vacation (a trip that my mother organized for us). The first 2 days, I barely ate anything, except for cucumbers. I tried the omelette and it was very bad.. The third night I had grilled chicken with baba Ghannouj and pickles that were edible, and the last night I had a large plate of grilled shrimps that was amazing! Sometimes, because the food was really disgusting, I was eating bread by itself or bread with a tiny bit of butter. It was a disaster! So the night we came back home, we all ordered some healthy burgers. Mine was a quinoa burger, with fries…
My appointment with Krystel was the day after I came back, but I called to postpone for a week because I felt very bloated. This also gave me some time to go back on track!
What I discovered: Never leave yourself without food or without eating! because then you’re tired, you get hungry and frustrated, so you could eat everyone and everything. Too frustrating! Be always prepared.
So finally, today I went for my appointment. My weight is now 60.5 kgs, and I lost 3 cms that I had put back while traveling. I also lost 1 cm on my arms. For some reason, everyone is noticing now that I lost a lot of weight, maybe because they have not seen me in a while, or maybe because now it really shows.
What I am happiest about is that loosing weight means I am getting healthier and lighter.
I had put it on because of very disappointing and unfortunate events, and now I need to try to take control over it all, my weight included.

The plan is to be 55 kgs by Christmas!
