Arianna Casadei: “I’m not perfect, but my shoes are!”

ARIANNA CASADEI: "The Casadei Woman is the Manifesto of a Free, Proud, Confident and Independent Woman."

Since she was a little girl, family and business have always been one and the same for Arianna Casadei: Just like her father did with her grandfather—the only way to spend time with her family was to join them at the company.

Arianna is a Communications graduate from Bologna University and is the third generation of the Casadei family business. In this interview, we ask her about her mission, leadership style, and lessons she learnt along the way.

Did you always know you were destined to join Casadei? Was it your choice?

I always knew that one day I would join the company. It's a passion I’ve always had since I was little, and over time, I have cultivated and refined it.

If you weren’t at Casadei, what wild adventure do you think you’d be pursuing instead?

I think I would have pursued a competitive swimming career, which kept me very busy during my adolescence.

In what unique ways do you see your grandparents and dad’s influence shining through in your work?

Above all, I would say the dedication and love we have had for over 66 years towards the world of shoes. For us, it's not just a job but a passion that we nurture and develop year after year.

What part of your job do you enjoy doing the most?

I can identify two different aspects. The first is traveling, because I have the great fortune of engaging with top professionals in the market and discovering new realities. The second is related to our archive. When I can carve out a little time for myself, I love to immerse myself in our company’s archive. There, I take time to admire the designs created by my grandfather Quinto. Each creation holds a story and a piece of his vision, and in those moments, I feel as though he is with me. It's as if we can communicate through his work, and it’s a beautiful feeling.

Do you have any input on the creative side?

My father has always been a creative person. The creative direction is in his hands.

How would you describe your leadership style in three words?

I would say innovative, always seeking new ideas and trends, empowering, fostering a collaborative environment and passionate towards creating a culture of continuous learning and growth.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned about leading a team in the fashion industry?

So far, my experience has taught me how important collaboration and creativity are. Creating an environment where everyone is free to express themselves is crucial for ensuring constant innovation, as well as a sense of belonging and motivation.

Can you share a moment when your leadership was put to the test, and how you handled it?

I remember a specific moment in 2012 when I asked my grandfather to introduce e-commerce into our company. It was something new for him, and I insisted on it because it was essential in order to expand our business. It wasn't easy – at all - to introduce something so new, and I recall that the expectations were so high. Day by day, as he saw the numbers, my grandfather changed his mind.

What unique perspective do you bring to Casadei that sets you apart?

The desire to always experiment and innovate business.

Do you have any daily rituals that keep you motivated?

When I am not traveling for work, I try to spend as much time as possible with my family and friends, with whom I organize paddle tournaments. Carving out time for yourself and recharging your energy is crucial.

Are there any bold changes or exciting new directions you’re dreaming of for Casadei?

For Casadei, the priority is always strengthening the online business but also working on consolidation in key markets including the United States, the Middle and Far East.

If the perfect Casadei woman walked into the room, what would she embody?

The Casadei woman is the manifesto of a free, proud, confident and independent woman.

What are the core values you hope to instil in your daughter as she grows up in this world?

Empathy, respect, curiosity and responsibility are some of the values my husband and I try to convey to our daughter day after day. What I do care  about the most is teaching my daughter to dream big, as my family has done with me.

What are some powerful ways women can uplift and support each other in the workplace and beyond?

One of the things I am most proud of is that our company is composed mainly by women. Teamwork and mutual support give us an extra edge, creating a stimulating and collaborative environment.

Life and Fashion

How would you describe your personality using just three fashion items?

·Tailored blazer

· Statement Casadei’s pumps

· Bold accessories, in particular oversized earrings.

What’s your signature style, and how does it reflect who you are?

My style can never lack elegance and quality. I like classic and tailored garments with a modern twist, and of course, shoes, a symbol of craftsmanship and innovation, which often become design elements, cannot be missed.

What’s the most memorable fashion statement you’ve ever made?

My forever statement is “I’m not perfect, but my shoes are!”.

What does a day in your life look like?

Every day is different, I really do not have a routine.

Are you Team Flats or Team Heels?

I don't have a favorite shoe. As most of women, it depends on the occasion. What we care the most is that every woman feels confident in whatever shoe she decides to wear.

How many pair of shoes does a woman truly need to conquer the world?

There is not a precise number of shoes to have; the real key is to own the ones that make you feel confident. Shoes are not just an accessory, but a key element in boosting self-confidence and bringing out the most charming side of each of us. Choosing the right pair can make all the difference, making us shine in any situation.

Arianna Casadei Wedding Shoes

What’s your all-time favorite pair from Casadei, and what makes them special to you?

There is one model that will forever remain in my heart. On my wedding day, my father Cesare together with his team designed wonderful wedding shoes for me. These shoes represent my father's love, but not only that. Every person within the company secretly guarded this design and everyone participated in the creation of this masterpiece. A gesture of love that was worth a thousand words.
