Salma Hayek: “He Makes My Heart Beats Stronger”…
Paying Tribute to Gibran
in His Hometown in Lebanon

Both her grandparents are Lebanese. Her family is originally from Ba’abdat.
Salma Hayek grew up in Mexico, where  the Lebanese community is very big and very united; traveling the world, she found out that the Lebanese community is big and united everywhere.

During her  stay in Lebanon, Salma Hayek visited Bsharri, Gibran’s hometown, hugged his statute, and walked barefoot in the water surrounding it:  He looks peaceful and wise, he makes my heart beat stronger. I feel like I have been in touch with him for a long time; like someone I have known for a long time.”

“The Prophet” is the book that her grandfather kept by his bed. It’s a “magical book” she says. When she was around 18, she saw the book again. She considers the movie to be a love letter to her heritage: “It’s important for me to remind the world that there was a man, an Arab man, who reunited the world and all religions with philosophy. His philosophy is medicine to the sorrow of men and women around the world.”

“The prophet” movie has 10 directors from all over the world, supervised by Lion King’s Director Roger Allers. It does not have a country nor a religion. The decision to bring international talent including Music Composer Gabriel Yared came with the purpose of breaking the norms, and doing something free and different, “It’s a handmade movie, done by friends and lovers of this poet”.

Salma Hayek: This movie is for Lebanon,
 Please come and watch it

Salma adds: “I wanted to make this movie especially for Lebanon, so please come and watch it.”

“The prophet” premieres with Avengers, she wants us to beat it so the world knows about this little country and Khalil Gibran, through this little movie!

“The Prophet”, as she says, is not for everyone in this world, but it is for all ages, not only children.

I can not resist the challenge! let’s break records.
