Would loosing weight finally Change my life and help me chase my dreams?

So I decided to take control over my weight, for the sake of my health and my image, because yes, I want a long and healthy life and also to look good in my #selfies! After all, I am a Fashion Editor and a Fashion Blogger. I am not a person who is usually obsessed with weight, and I have been very skinny for most of my life. Add having 2 babies and nursing them (they say nursing helps you loose weight, well forget it!), here goes the first 8 kilos! Then moving back to Beirut, working on a desk for 8 hours a day, and no exercise… Add some stressful unfortunate events…. The result? I hit 70 kilos, and felt that I lost control. I have no idea how I was able to put 8 kilos in less than a year! And it’s not that I am a junk food lover, but the opposite. I love salads and fruits…. and bread!



When I met a friend of a friend who was talking about her diet, and how she lost 15 kilos in 2 months, I was really excited! I want to loose some weight quickly at the beginning, because then I will be encouraged to last longer. But this will not involve taking any diet pills or whatever rubbish I never believed in!

I took the appointment with her doctor, Krystel Abi Assi, but had to wait for about a month before getting the appointment. Working at Laha Magazine helped me make a second call and beg to come earlier (before I changed my mind)!

Appointment booked!

Krystel is a very vivacious person, very nice and really frank. “Your body age is 59”! Say what??? I had to do a blood test, and an insulin test. I do have high insulin levels which apparently slows your metabolism a lot, and prevents you from burning carbs and sugar. I also have a lot of body fat, all accumulated around my waist and upper body (caused mainly by stress).

So here is the plan. The day I went to Krystel, my weight was 69 kgs. Our first goal will be to reach 56 Kgs, and then we will see.

Krystel gave me a “Shock Diet” that I had to follow for 1 week, which should make me loose 2 or 3 kgs. But honestly, the real shock is the amount of food I have to eat! Huge quantities of protein (200 g of white cheese in the morning, at least 250 grams of lean meat or chicken for lunch and dinner)! But luckily, I was still allowed to have some vegetables like cucumbers, lettuce, zucchini, eggplants, tomatoes, and green beans. Not bad for a diet!

I started the diet on my Birthday! But I have to admit, I cheated and had a very tiny piece of my birthday cake, just for luck! Then for 8 days, I have not cheated, and I was surprised how I was able to control myself! No Bread, no sugar in my nescafé, no fruits… I had to drink 1 cup of warm water with a lemon wedge and slices of ginger first thing in the morning, drink at least 1.5 liters of water (I usually drink much more), and sleep for 8 hours.
On my first visit back, although I didn’t feel I lost anything, I had lost 2 1/2 Kilos!
Mission 1: Success!!! High Five!

And by the way, Krystel followed me on instagram! I think she’s checking to see if I am cheating, but I promise, I am really not, really!
I really don’t want to see it!

But I am ready for the challenge
