Last Christmas, I got a very special piece of jewelry from my very special friend…. I wear this necklace everywhere, because I just fell in love with it… I simply find it “different” from anything I see around me… So I thought why keep it to myself?? Please meet jewelry designer Anne Marie, a woman I perceive as “very strong yet very sensitive”… Maybe this is what makes her an artist!

When did you start making jewelry, and how did it happen?
Since my childhood, I have always been fascinated by stones, their colors, shape, their mystery, and how they sparkle. It happened, when my friends asked me to help them searching for special pieces of jewelry, then to design for them ……
What did you have to study to do it?
I’m a perfectionist by nature, I did not want to be an amateur. First I joined the BJO (Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfeverie)- pearls and handcraft, then I.N.G (Institut National de Gémologie) where I studied Gemology; both are in Paris. Next I studied at HRD Antwerp- to be a diamonds’ expert, and finally, pushing it further, I went to Johannesburg RSA for rough diamonds. “The world of gems” always keeps a part of mystery; you ca never know all about it.
What inspires you?
I travel around the world. I’m a nomad 🙂 ….. Visually I am bombarded on a daily basis, but I derive a lot of my inspiration from museums. Still my biggest inspiration is women of all ages and styles. I have a fertile imagination.
What kind of material do you use in your collections?
My obvious passion for the the gemstone makes me use them in all my creations. I love mixing and matching colors… Each piece has to tell a story, or evoke a place.
Just adore these cufflinks!
What’s a piece of jewelry that you would love to own, regardless of its price?
A bracelet from Boucheron called “Beauté Dangeureuse”.
How could we match a piece of jewelry to our personality?
It depends on the style of each person, some like it “much”, some “little”. Don’t follow trends, but have your own style.
What’s your personal style?
Very feminine……..
Any jewelry must have?
I hate the word “must”. It’s a personal choice to own or not own a piece of jewelry.
Are diamonds a girl’s best friend?
So they said ……….:)
Do you get any jewelry from your husband?
Yes, and I feel it’s Romantic.
What’s your advice for men when buying jewelry for their beloved ones?
Jewelry has a lot of symbolic charge from the ancient days till now. It’s attached to seduction, power…….. A gift from a man, to you, the woman he loves; it’s something that you keep and want to give to your daughter. It’s sensual………. It has a connection to big love stories like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
The male has to read between the line ……….
